The New Jersey homeowners contacted us with a minor waterproofing job. Little did they know, they were dealing with mold and mildew growing behind their finish walls turning a simple job into one that required our expertise to fix it ..
The family was concerned about dust and mold particles getting into their living space while the work was being done, so we took the necessary precautions and put plastic up on the stairs to the ground level.
To address this, Project Manager Tim S. went out to meet with the New Jersey homeowners and perform a full basement inspection. Tim provided the homeowners with a Healthy Basement Level 1 solution, which included a full perimeter closed GrateDrain drainage system and a moisture vapor barrier to protect against wall leakage. Victor and his team moved any objects blocking the perimeter of all four walls to the middle of the basement and covered them with plastic to ensure maximum protection. They then set up negative air for dust control. After that, the perimeter of the walls was excavated to install the closed GrateDrain drainage system. Once dug up, the system was placed, the space was filled back up with gravel, and concrete was placed back on top to seal it completely. Next, the GrateSump pump was installed in the low spot of the basement, and a discharge line was placed to channel the water out of the basement through the freeze stop and then release it through the catch basin. Now, with a waterproofed basement, this New Jersey homeowner can enjoy a dry, clean basement.
