A finish Basement is a dream to many homeowners with young children ! Project manager Steve Custus went out to meet with the homeowners and recommended a full perimeter (closed ) Drainage system with inspection ports for future maintenance. Steve also recommended full vapor on the walls to protect the finish basement from future walls leaks and moisture. The clients also went with the Grate Sump that can remove up to 2400 gallons of water per hour . Last but not least we installed a egress escape window which is code if your looking to finish your bas In Philadelphia. Now the homeowners have the peace in mind that their new finish basement will be projected from ground water seepage.

We had to remove the finished material to access the foundation walls where the source of the water was.

To address this, we provided the investors with a partial system that would control any water entering the basement from the currently leaking areas. We installed a closed drainage system with an airtight Grate Sump and a vapor barrier on the walls to channel any wall leaks down into the new drainage system.

Now the property owners can refinish the basement, and the tenant will have full use of her basement. Problem solved.

Senior Project Manager Ed Went out to sit down with the clients to hear about all their concerns with their basement. Ed recommend the homeowners reduce the relative humidity in the basement by bring it down below 50% this would make the basement more comfortable and preventing mold growth at the same time . Ed explain how important it is to choose the right size dehumidifier , because of the size of the basement Ed recommended the compact model dehumidifier that covers up to 1700sq . We also closed up the open Sump pit that was humidifing the air with tons of moisture. Last but not least we replaced all the old leaky windows in the basement , because it’s key when trying to condition the air in the basement you keep all outside air out of the space. Steve recommended the GrateDrain closed drainage system to take care of the ground water problem, along with the GrateSump pump which can remove up to 2400 gph of water from the basement . To solve the moisture from the walls we first clean the walls with a mold neutralizer than we applied a moisture vapor barrier to the walls , this vapor barrier will channel any future wall leaks down into the GrateDrain system . Far as the entry door wall leakage we installed a GrateTrench to capture any water leaking from under the basement door . Now the homeowner has a dry basement !
