The challenge we faced was that this was a solid poured concrete foundation, so it was a little tougher to cut the window opening than in our typical block foundations.

To address this, we recommended installing a code-compliant egress window before the start of finishing the basement, since the 2006 International Residential Code states that basements and every sleeping room shall have at least one emergency exit and rescue opening.

The job was pretty cut and dry, and we were in and out within one day. To address the problem area, we installed a new Grate Sump with a backup inverter for 24-hour protection. We also completed some drainage work along the problem area.
