Project Manager Steve C. went out to provide the homeowners with a free basement inspection. During the inspection, the homeowners pointed out their areas of concern. One of these concerns was water seeping in at the floor-wall joint and under the basement entryway door. Based on these issues, Steve recommended the GrateDrain System. This system channels water from around the perimeter of the basement to the Grate-Sump, which removes the water far away from the home.

Steve’s inspection also revealed to the homeowners that there was a potentially hazardous dirt crawl space under their living space. He recommended sealing it off to improve the overall health of the home.

The new homeowners can now use every inch of their basement and crawl space for storage without fear of things being ruined by moisture.

The challenges we faced were keeping the newly finished basement clean while doing the waterproofing work.

To address this, we installed a window well drain that ties into the existing sump pump. Then, we installed a sealed window well surround to keep water out and prevent the well from filling up. Now the homeowners can enjoy their newly finished basement.

When we got there, there was a lot of mud and water on the floor, and half of the basement was finished, which made the job more challenging. Taking this into account, and because the homeowner wanted the problem solved as soon as possible, Steve arranged for a production crew to be out within a few days. We installed a drainage system with a full vapor barrier and a Grate Sump with a battery backup for 24-hour protection. We also extended the downspout 10 feet away from the home and washed the floor down. Now the basement is dry as a bone.

We even extended a downspout underground free of charge to get as much water away from the foundation as possible. The Walkers said they chose us over our competitors because we were the only company that was not pushy during the sales call. Now that the groundwater issues have been taken care of, they can refinish the space and add a new playroom for their children.

We encapsulated the entire crawl space and added a Santa-Fe Advance 2 to control moisture. As a result, the smells went away, and the homeowners now have a little more storage room in the crawl space.
