Project manager Steve Custus went out to give a free evaluation, and found the best solution for their water issues. The homeowners chose to have the Grate Sump / with a full perimeter Grate Drain (closed) Drainage system that will drain ground water to the new Grate Sump which can handle 2400 Gallons per hour.. we also installed a vapor barrier on the walls that will drain any wall leaks down into the Grate Drain Drainage system . Now this homeowner will receive a healthy basement certificate that's transferable to the next homeowners .. We remove the lower portion of the wall than treated the walls for Mold before applying a moisture vapor barrier ,after that a Grate-Sump sump pump was also installed to pump water draining from the Grate-Drain sub floor Drainage system out of the basement and away from the home. The Grate-Sump is able to pump 2400 gallons of water per hour out of the basement meaning it will keep the basement dry during heavy downpours.. This basement has stayed dry through the recent heavy rains ans the homeowner is very happy! Now the can refinish the basement with peace in mind. Crew : Foremen Dwight Custus

The challenges we faced were working in a tight space, as the crawl space was small in height. There was also so much humidity down there that the floor joists were dripping with moisture.

To address this, after crawl space specialist Steve met with her, the solutions he provided were a full encapsulation system with a dehumidifier. We also closed up the open vents and installed a Grate Sump pump in the low spot for drainage. Before we were even done, you could see a big difference throughout the whole home as the humidity levels started to drop rapidly. Now that the crawl space is dry and free of groundwater seepage, the homeowner has gained around 2,000 square feet of dry usable space.

Once the system and gravel is placed, the area is sealed back up with cement. The idea behind this product is to catch any water and allow it to flow through the system before entering the basement. The water flows through the Grate Drain and then is led to a Grate sump pump. The sump pump then collects the water and pumps it away from the house through a discharge line. This innovated system allows the basement to stay dry. The homeowner also decided to install a high vole Dehumidifier. The homeowner had a musty odor every time she entered the basement.
