The challenge we faced was having to work in the crawl space of a brand-new addition. This was very difficult because the clients had spent a lot of money and everything was brand new, so we could not get a piece of dirt or dust on anything.
Senior Project Manager Steve Custus, with over 16 years of experience, went out to meet with the builders who built the new addition.
The best solution for this problem was to install the GrateDrain drainage system, a GrateSump sump pump, and a moisture vapor barrier on the crawl space walls.
Foreman Kareem B. and his team performed the installation. The process began with preparation, including protecting all the client’s items and controlling dust. The GrateSump pump pit was the first thing the crew installed, then they moved on to jackhammer the floor around the perimeter of the crawl space. They cleaned the concrete dust from the area and laid a layer of crushed stone down. The GrateDrain drainage system was pitched downhill, connecting to the sump pump pit. After that, fresh cement was poured and leveled around the perimeter to provide a smooth finish.
