The challenges we faced were that we had to gut the basement, and that was especially tough because there was no basement access entrance, so everything had to go out through the window.
To address this, our certified waterproofing specialist Steve first went out to speak with the homeowner about the issues she was having in the basement and educated her on the effects that a damp basement can have on the whole home. We first removed all the old and rotten finished material, then installed a high-efficiency dehumidifier to bring the humidity level down below 50%. After that, we cleaned the very old stone walls and applied a vapor barrier, wire, and parging to give the walls a nice clean look. Along the front wall, where there was active groundwater leaking, we installed our Grate Sump with GrateDrain to channel groundwater seepage to the sump pump. This ensured that she would not have leaking in that area again.
